Recently I had the privilege to meet with anglers in the Laurel Highlands at The Foggy Mountain Lodge and Restaurant located near Ligonier Pennsylvania. This event was just one of many offered by the Laurel Highlands Trout Trail organization. What a nice venue to learn and discuss fly fishing!
The trout pond stays cold throughout the summer and offers guests the opportunity to hone their skills while having fun doing it. We worked on the basics and some advanced casting topics. Tension, Acceleration, followed with a crisp Stop. A firm wrist. Flick the apple off the stick. Pantomime the hauling motion as a prelude to practicing with a rod. Everyone brought trout to hand and shared the experience. The Tribune Review even stopped by for a little action.
