As with most hunting activities, it is extremely important to take your time and stealthily approach your target. Fish have a great sense of hearing so wade quietly. The angle of vision from a trout’s perspective is wide. This means that crouching or staying low to the ground allowing you closer fishing opportunities. Be cautious not to cast shadows on the water surface. Be careful to not make sudden movements. Wear appropriate colored clothing. Do not expose shiny objects. Use trees, or other structures to hide your presence. When you are unable to approach a target closely use long distance casting skills to achieve success. Do not “line” the fish by allowing the fly line to drift over its view.
