Featured Gear: Stormy Kromer The Rancher Cap, Orvis Abel Nipper And Lanyard, NRS Men’s HydroSkin® Long-Sleeve Shirt

Stormy Kromer The Rancher Cap
The Rancher is a seriously warm cap for seriously cold conditions – over four times warmer than the Original. Made premium wool/nylon blend, then lined with 200 gram Thinsulate® to ramp up the heat. To that add two extra inches of fleece-filled comfort on the earband, creating the mother of all head protection systems.

Orvis Abel Nipper And Lanyard
The last pair of nippers you’ll ever buy. Designed, manufactured, and assembled in the US by Abel, these anodized aluminum nippers feature stainless steel jaws, are saltwater resistant, and can even cut through 100-lb. braided line. Comes with a nearly indestructible lanyard made out of lightweight nylon parachute cord. Available without the lanyard. In olive with trout logo. Weighs 0.7 oz. Made in USA.

NRS Men’s HydroSkin® Long-Sleeve Shirt
The ultimate immersible base layer. Stretchy, comfortable HydroSkin 0.5 neoprene material gives you just the right amount of warmth for cool days and cool water without feeling bulky or restrictive.
0.5 mm Terraprene™ neoprene with heat-reflecting titanium cuts the chill on cool days.
Four-way-stretch PowerSpan™ exterior allows unrestricted movement, and the soft ThermalPlush™ lining feels great against your skin.
Paddler-specific design allows unrestricted freedom of movement and puts seams where they won’t cause irritation.
Spandex fabric under the arms creates friction-free zones for comfortable paddling while improving ventilation where you need it most.
HydroSkin is lightweight wetsuit apparel; it’s designed for a snug form fit that restricts water entry and locks in your body’s warmth.
A durable water repellent (DWR) exterior coating sheds water to help reduce evaporative cooling.
Thread the drawstring of your board shorts through the Hemloop to keep the Hydroskin from riding up during the most strenuous paddles.

  1. I can’t believe how the price of these nippers has skyrocketed. If you really want to jump into the deep end, check out their line of fish graphic nippers meant to mimic the skin patterns of different trout species. My Fathers Day gift to myself two years ago was an Abel nipper in brook trout. At that time the price was ONLY $100! They’re now at $165! Still a fantastic nipper.
