The Belted Kingfisher keeps me company all the while chattering his proud call to our world. One eye on the fly, other catching peeks, blue streak, quickly, smoothly; just above the river’s surface. Skim snatched quarry now firmly clenched in beak, the Kingfisher rests with turned eye on my futile effort to raise trout in the soft morning light.
